The Mount Joy facility was originally built by the National Standard Company in the 1960s for the production of Tire Bead wire. In 1991, the Krieger family purchased Mount Joy Wire. Throughout the 1990s, the mill increasingly focused on American-made specialty wire products. Today, the mill's main focus remains on precision-manufactured wire with exact specifications, not high-volume commodity business.
In December 2025, WCJ Pilgrim Wire, together with international partners, acquired Mount Joy Wire. Even under new ownership, the Mills' focus remains the same: to produce high-quality, specialty, American-made steel wire available.
